2019 Audi S5 Canada welcome to audicarusa.com discover New Audi sedans, SUVs & coupes get our expert review. Fun fact: The new Sportback is the first vehicle in Audi history to launch in the United States before any other market. That’s partly because the car manufacturer sees the United States as its top priority for the new Audi SSportsmodels, especially since we don’t have the sweets, RS4 candies and RS6 cars sold abroad. But in reality, the greatest driving force behind this U.S.-centric launch is that Audi’s A5 and S5 Sportback models far outweigh their coupe and Cabriolet counterparts in the United States, and the company expects the same to be true with the new Such

The sooner the pigeon arrives, the better. Because as with A5 and S5, the Sportback is absolutely the one you get. Well, that’s not technically true. Audi quotes the 3.8 Sportback as having an acceleration time of 0-60 second, while the 2 to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds, mostly due to the penalty of five weight gates of 89 pounds and a slight increase of the drag coefficient. That said, having thrown the hell out of both models, I assure you that this discrepancy of a tenth of a second is completely imperceptible from behind the wheel.

Greatness begins under the hood, where you’ll find the 2.9 dual-turbocharged V6 from Audi. No, it’s not as magical and wonderful and perfect as the 4.2 of the natural aspiration V8 of former Audi models of de of former–not to mention the 4.0-Liter Mercedes V8 uses in its AMG C63. But with 444 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque on offer, the latter of which comes in strong at 1,900 rpm, is certainly not weak. In fact, in 3.8 seconds to 60 mph, the all-wheel-drive part of the Sportback is faster than its four-door Mercedes-AMG C63 S and BMW M3 rival.

An eight-speed automatic handles change duties, and while you would think that a dual-clutch gearbox would just be the ticket for an RS model, I have no complaints about this Tiptronic transmission of ZF-originated. A conventional torque converter means offline starts are as soft as powerful, and when left to their own devices, the Tiptronic performs freezing shifts in comfort mode and crisp and sensitive gear changes when He’s giving the beans to Dynamic. Steering wheel-mounted cam knobs offer quick and low changes for people who prefer to choose their own adventure, although the plastic parts themselves do not offer any real tactile satisfaction.

Each Sportback model is standard with 19-inch wheels wrapped in summer tyres from the 265/35 series, but Audi says it expects most people to climb to 20-inch rollers, with its grippier 275/30-series rubber. The larger rolling stock does not significantly increase the hardness on the small imperfections of the pavement, of course, the RS5 ‘s suspension is quite stiff to start with. The all-wheel drive system Quattro defaults to a 30:70 front/rear power division, and can send up to 85 percent of the available back thrust, where a standard sports differential can redirect the pair of Torque to side as needed.

You will want the optional dynamic package for your RS sport suspension with dynamic ride control, which allows you to adapt the driving quality to different levels of firmness. But you will really want it so that you can unlock the dynamic direction option, which offers variable support and proportions in comfort and auto modes, but uses a fixed ratio of 13.5:1 in dynamic mode, for a predictable and reliable response, though It still lacks real communication through the wheel. The dynamic package also gives you an escape from the port, which sounds killer, although I would like Audi to leave a little more of that sweet roar of rear end impregnating the cockpit. You get a lot of “enhanced ” sound from the engine inside the cockpit, but at least passersby can enjoy the soundtrack.

A Dynamic Plus package raises the blow with the front carbon ceramic brakes and an increase of 174-mph top end, both of which are virtually unnecessary unless you are regularly taking your back refishing to the track days. Of course, while running at 165 mph on an open section of the German Autobahn without restriction, I am infinitely thankful for the awesome power, sure of the ceramic plugs when the slow movement of the people Peugeot move unexpectedly moves in The left lane.

That said, this kind of great high-speed ride is really where the Sportback part is more at home. Nice as it is on winding roads through the Bavarian Black Forest, I find the experience a bit too buttoned up for your own good. Of course, the rear end rotates easily with the stability control set in ESC Sport, but since 60 percent of the weight of the Sportback is located on the nose of the car, the C-B has a tendency to immerse itself in braking, changing the weight of the shaft Rear Despite most of the p of the car sent to the back. A little more balancing, a little more sense of direction and a little less virtual engine noise would do wonders.

As a sports GT car and an excellent daily driver, it could certainly do worse than a Sportback–I’m going to take this Audi over the too numb BMW M3 any day. But if it’s about the emotions and chills you’re looking for, the Mercedes-AMG C63 will probably offer more smiles per mile. Audi’s biggest advantage over its German rivals, and in fact, the reason you could buy one instead of a coupe, is the added versatility offered by that form of Sportback. Lift the power Liftback and you will find 21.8 cubic feet of space–double the two-door—which easily swallows a pair of large suitcases and backpacks. Fold the flat rear seats and the load volume increases to a very useful 35 cubic feet.

Beyond the increase in load capacities, let us not forget, the Sportback is more suitable for carrying people. The rear seat passengers get an extra inch of headspace and an additional 2.4 inches of leg space compared to the coupe, and the second set of doors means they don’t have to do the graceful shimmy-Tilt seat with the Order to access the rear seats. The Sportback models also add a pair of USB ports so that the rear pilots can keep the smartphones and the tablets well and loaded.

Your eyes may prefer two-door shapes, but I actually think the deal Sportback is a better-looking car, full stop. I can’t get enough of that gracefully sloping roof and short back cover, dotted with the subtle section-specific lip spoiler. Dimensionally speaking, the Sportback is 2.3 inches longer than a couple of the and is only one inch taller in general.

You can order the Sportback with all the same look packages as the 2. º coupe, including black optical package, black optical carbon package or matte Alu Optical Carbon pack, all of which add unique 20 inch wheels and offer your own touches to the outer bits like the front lip, the Sills Side and the aileron of the decklid. You can get black Audi rings and exterior logos, also–something new for Sportback, although don’t be surprised if this option also appears in the model year 2019 of LA.

Apart from the back compartment, the Sportback’s cockpit is no different from your coupe Kin. You get the same RS sports seating (with heat and massage), carbon-look inlays, aluminum moldings and a panoramic, standard moonroof. In the typical Audi fashion, the cockpit has a generally clean design, with a single row of climatic controls below the 8.3-inch central screen. The Audi Infotainment MMI system is controlled by a large dial with the shortcut buttons on the central console, and the packages Apple display, auto Android and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Audi says that most of the buyers of the coupe are all going in the technology options, so you just decide to do things like the excellent 12.3 inch virtual cabin screen, integrated navigation and the standard Internet connection Connect services in the Sportback. The charging of wireless smartphones and the direct monitoring of tire pressure are also added to the list of 2019 standard equipment of the series.

The added technology team means that the 2019 Audi, Sportback, will have a base price of $74,200 when it arrives at the U.S. showrooms by the end of this year, not including $995 for the destination. Yes, that’s an increase of $4,300 on the $69,900 of the coupe, but again, almost no one is buying the coupe without these options. I’ll bet dollars to donuts a similar price/team increase is in the store for 2the 019 model year of the coupes, too.

Actually, Audi’s mission is to offer the same great package of the 2. through two bodywork styles; The Sportback adds a lot of daily usability without tangible performance compensations. Besides, it’s kind of a kind of a–BMW doesn’t make an M4 great coupe, and the Mercedes-AMG C63 sticks to the traditional sedan and coupe forms. That means that the Sportback could appeal to more than just the “de la ” buyers. And for Audi, that’s a total win.
