2022 Audi A3 in the coming year the smallest Audi will get a redesign, and from our observation, we have now presented our first appearance on the next-generation A3.
In these photos, the disguised prototype of the A3 Sportback, the hatchback version of this compact luxury car, is being sold in Europe.
It will make its debut in this form at the Geneva auto show next month, and this first appearance gives us an indication of what to expect from the eventual A3 sedan that we will most likely get in the US.
The new A3 seems to have an evolutionary look, with a front-end style that is similar to the A4 sedan which is slightly larger and headlights that look similar to an electric e-Tron SUV.
2022 Audi A3 Redesign
The new generation of 2022 Audi A3 compact cars is here, and we love the look of the European market hatchback variant.
The redesigned A3 Sportback has a bolder style and additional technological features and tells us quite a lot about the new A3 sedan that will reach the US market later this year.
So far, Audi has only released details about the A3 Sportback front-wheel drive, which offers a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine and 2.0-liter turbo-diesel.
We won’t get one of these engines in America, or the six-speed manual transmission available. Instead, we will most likely see an all-wheel-drive A3 sedan with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Audi also said that the hybrid version will come later. The company briefly sold the A3 e-Tron plug-in hybrid in the form of a hatchback in the US from 2016 to 2018, but we will not bet on the hold that will return shortly.

The 10.1-inch touch screen infotainment system is standard, as is Audi’s Audipit Virtual digital measuring cluster.
A larger 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is optional and offers additional display modes.
The higher-performing S3 and RS3 variants are also on the horizon, and Audi has talked about performance enhancements such as torque vectors and adaptive dampers.
We have to learn more about the upcoming new 2022 Audi A3 version this year as Audi perfects the US plan to launch this new small car.
The American sedan A3 will clearly distinguish itself from this hatchback from the B pillar backward.
2022 Audi A3 Engine
Audi has offered A3 hatchbacks in the US in the past, most recently in the form of plug-in-hybrid e-trans, but we don’t expect Sportback to return to our shores.
Audi detailed some of the new A3 mechanical features that were said to improve handling, but from what we can conclude, the company effectively stated that it would be offered with all Quattro wheels and adaptive dampers – nothing new in Audi.
The AWD setting does sound different from other Audi systems by releasing the rear axle (Audi does offer a system called Quattro with an ultra that already does that, but in our opinion, it is a little different).
There is no info yet on powertrains for the new A3, but we can assume that it will continue to include higher-performing S3 and RS3 variants.
