It comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, 8.6-inch touchscreen for vehicle and climate control, Bluetooth, USB connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, three-zone climate control, power-adjustable heated front seats, power-folding third-row seats, and collapsible second-row seats. We hope it stays the same in the 2022 Audi Q7.
2022 Audi Q7 Hybrid Review
New Audi Q7 Phev USA If you’re looking for the Audi Q7 plug-in hybrid, you might be interested to know that the German company has replaced its big SUV Audi Q7 Phev USA with the old diesel-powered Q7 e-Tron with a new, petrol-fueled V6 55 TFSI e.
Audi thought that the TFSI e would be slicker and smoother than the old car. You may want to think about a change along the lines of replacing your tried and trusted Flora bottle with high-quality extra virgin olive oil.
Like other Audi plug-in hybrids, the electrified Q7 looks no different than the petrol and diesel models. There’s an additional cover for the charging port and some hidden TFSI e badges, but that’s about it as far as visual changes are concerned.
Inside, the newer three-screen MMI Touch infotainment interface is adopted up front, replacing the odd old Audi system where a satnav screen pops up from the dashboard. MMI Touch looks great and works pretty well, with haptic keystrokes, but using it on the go takes a little getting used to.
There’s a big sacrifice to make in the Q7 TFSI e compared to other models, and that’s the lack of a seven-seat option. With all hybrid equipment, there’s no more room. However, you do get a 650-liter boot, so it’s handy in that regard.
The biggest difference between this new Q7 plug-in and the old one is under the hood. It’s still a 3.0-liter V6, but now it’s powered by gasoline instead of diesel-like alternative engines like the BMW X5 xDrive45e, or the Volvo XC90 T8 Recharge.
At 381hp and 600Nm, the 55 TFSI e doesn’t seem to change the game much from the 373hp and 700Nm e-Tron TDI. If that bothers you, there’s the expensive Competition 60 TFSI e in the Q7 range with 462hp and 700Nm.
Audi claims the Q7 TFSI e can cover 29 miles of electric power alone, emits only 60g/km of CO2, and produces a theoretical 104.6mpg. With a 17.9kWh battery and a maximum charge rate of 7.4kW on an AC connection, it will take you 2.5 hours to recharge the battery in the wall box or about eight hours on a domestic three-pin socket.
Weight is the feature that determines how the Q7 TFSI e. Weighing in at 2,450kg, it’s an old bus that’s heavy and feels around corners. Started tossing the Audi around and it became abundantly clear that the SUV was operating well outside of its comfort zone.
But where the 55 TFSI e scores high is the cruising refinement. Choose the S line and you get air suspension as standard, which results in an impressive level of comfort and quiet operation. The automatic gearbox also works with more dignity and smoothness than the company’s S Tronic twin-clutch transmission, so the family engine to go through in the Q7 is very short. Smooth and rich – just like extra virgin olive oil.

The Audi Q7 currently has three powertrain options, starting with a 248-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Next up is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 335 hp and 369 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, the ultimate powertrain is the SQ7’s turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with 500 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. All three engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. We expect the Q7 2022 to continue with the same powertrain options.
The Q7 hasn’t gone through IIHS testing yet, but it’s a 2020 model. It drew a “Good” rating in all crash tests but trailed with a “Poor” rating in the headlight test, booting it out of Top Safety Pick considerations.
Its standard automatic emergency braking receives a “Superior” rating for pedestrians and other vehicles.
Other standard safety equipment on the current Q7 includes active lane control, a blind-spot monitor with rear traffic warning, automatic high light, and a driver attention monitor that can slow the Q7 to a stop and ignite a hazard if the driver becomes unresponsive. We expect these ratings and features to remain the same in the 2022 Audi Q7.
2022 Audi Q7 Design
Simple but handsome, the Q7 is sure to retain its looks for years to come. There are 7 here, with points each for the exterior and interior. The body of the Q7 wagon received minor changes in 2020, which brought new LED headlights at the front and rear, sharper grille lines, and larger 19-inch alloy wheels. It draws from its lithe look despite its bulky demeanor.
Maybe because of the vertical grille blades or low bumper, or the pointed rear end; whatever choice was made to minimize its size and maximize its appeal, Audi got it right.
The interior defines the Q7 with luxury items like wood and leather. For modern panache, Audi covers the dashboard with screens — the infotainment is a two-touch screen setup, with a third display showing gauges, mapping, and other additional data.
Smartly, Audi limits its use of glossy piano-black plastic. That makes the Q7 a quietly richer company and will appear more attractive over time, we’ll bet.
2022 Audi Q7 Specs
Other than a few minor equipment tweaks, not much. It is okay; in its current form, the Q7 is a multi-talented three-row luxury SUV with a few glaring flaws.
It’s beautiful, for one thing: the timeless lines framing the grille and headlights, and running down the tapered body, look good to outlast a quick form-defining development. The cabin is simple in its form, has a high intensity in its pixel count, and its advanced functions.
Performance comes from a turbo-4, twin-turbo V-6, or twin-turbo V-8, all coupled to an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The base Q7 45 has ample acceleration and quiet handling, even before the hot-swap to a 335-hp turbo-6 and upgraded air suspension.
The Q7 55 can reach speeds of 60 mph in 5.7 seconds; to scald asphalt, you’ll need a 500-hp SQ7, great for a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds and a top end of 155 mph. For anyone with other weekend priorities, the Q7 can also withdraw up to 7,700 pounds.
With seats for up to four large passengers and three more small passengers, the seven-seater Q7 has the right priority. The front seats have plenty of customization and plenty of cushioning, while head and legroom give second-row passengers the luxurious treatment implied by the Audi badge.
Middle and third-row passengers must be small and agile to get into the least accessible seats of Q7; most drivers will fold up the third-row seats for about 35 cubic feet of cargo space.
The Q7 is equipped with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, active lane control, and an automatic high beam. The crash-test scores were good, but there was a problem.
The Audi Q7 and Q8 received the new Competition Plus models for the 2022 model year, but before you get too excited, let’s get straight to the point that the new models only benefit from styling upgrades.

It happened in 2015 when we were driving the then-new generation Audi Q7. How things have changed since then. The world is accelerating towards a more electric-based automotive future – indeed, Audi has launched the all-electric e-Tron – and, in a step-change for the series, the Q7 is following suit.
Say hello to the Audi Q7 TFSi e – the ‘e’ which refers to the ‘electric’ component – which is a plug-in hybrid variant. There’s still a V6 engine under the hood, but that’s mated to an electric motor, which can be recharged by plugging in (and, to some degree, via regenerative braking).
That’s not all, though. Audi’s technology has advanced over the years since the launch of the latest generation Q7, towards a more practical touch-based approach, as you’ll also find here. Outside there are nips and slips to bring the design up to date.
So if you’re looking for some big wheels with all the room Audi Q7 Hybrid 2022 for the full family, some off-road capability while out in the country, plus all the conveniences of modern technology and the convenient electrification factor (plus some tax savings), is the Q7 Hybrid USA the most viable option?
Audi Q7 PHEV USA Design Interior
The Q7 is the biggest Audi on the road. Well, it’s the tallest, as it shares the MLB Evo’s platform with many other cars – even the Bentley Bentayga – which is why its five-meter length offers plenty of room inside. However, that’s five seats as standard because the battery needs to live somewhere – not the seven seats as per the non-electric version.
Visually, the Q7 is similar to how it’s looked for several years: less ‘station wagon’ than the previous generation model, inherently tall (adjustable thanks to Audi Drive Select’s raised/lowered suspension adjustment), with muscular Audi-style upholstery. giving the exterior additional shape to its large frame.
While all SUVs look quite hefty from the outside, the Q7 PHEV is a different beast on the inside. Behind the wheel, it feels like sitting high on a road-worthy magic carpet, unlike the nut-‘n’-bolt hardness of the new Land Rover Discovery, for example.
However, it’s the sheer amount of technology inside that helps sell the Q7 as a premium vehicle. The sizable interior melts a bit because, when you look down, you’re naturally drawn to the flagship screen – there’s a pair on the center console, while the other features are behind the wheel, in a staple Audi Virtual Cockpit setup.
The Virtual Cockpit – which is a 12.3-inch display – consists of a digital speedo and a wealth of other information, accessed via a scrolling thumbwheel located on the main steering wheel. So whether you want a full satnav view or fuel consumption to see your savings or remaining distance on electric power alone, the choice is yours.
Thankfully there’s no screen positioned high up on the dashboard, like the one on the five-year-old Q7, so no distractions here – just a very large (and of course high) view of the street.
2022 Audi Q7 Premium
The Q7 45 TFSI gets power from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Q7 55 TFSI ($61,200) is identically equipped but uses a more powerful 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine.
Both versions come with Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system and 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter Q7 can hit 60 mph in 6.9 seconds and be towed up to 4,400 pounds. The 3.0-liter engine reduces that time to 5.7 seconds and increases towing capacity to 7,700 pounds.
Considering the Premium is the first trim in the Q7 stable, it’s pretty well equipped. A quick walk around the exterior reveals 19-inch alloy wheels on run-flat tires, foldable heated side mirrors, and insulated side and rear windshields. The Q7 uses LEDs for the front and rear lights, and the liftgate is powered by hands-free release.
The Audi Q7 2022 comes as standard with three-row seating and leather upholstery. Accessing the third-row seats is not easy, requiring the manual operation of the second-row folding and falling seats.
The third-row seats are power operated and can be folded flat via two buttons located in the rear cargo hold. A hallmark of Audi, the interior of the Q7 is very luxurious. The front seats are heated, and the power driver’s seat includes memory functions for the side mirrors and a power-adjustable steering column. The ambient interior lighting feature further enhances the appeal of the Q7’s interior.
Perhaps the most impressive part of the Q7’s interior is the Virtual Cockpit and the dual infotainment and climate control panels. The Virtual Cockpit uses a sizable 12.3-inch LCD instead of traditional analog gauges.
The screen can be configured to look like an analog setting or minimized to make room for the Google Maps view when using navigation. It’s a pretty neat setup.
To the right of the driver is a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen that controls 10-speaker audio, standard Audi MMI navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay wireless integration.
Beneath the infotainment screen is a smaller touchscreen that operates 3-zone automatic climate control and functions as a keyboard and writing tablet for the navigation system.
There are no knobs or dials on either screen, meaning functions are performed via touch and swipe gestures, steering wheel controls, or voice commands (if applicable). The Q7 also comes with a six-month trial subscription to Audi Connect Prime and Audi Connect Plus online services.
On the convenience side, power windows feature a one-touch up/down operation. Cruise control is standard but adaptive cruise is not available on the Premium trim. The keyless entry fob also operates the start button and power liftgate.
There are USB ports on the front and second row, but not on the third row, which also lacks air vents. Overhead, the Q7 has a large panoramic sunroof with a strong sunshade.
On the secure front, the Q7 Premium has you covered. Standard low-speed automatic emergency braking includes pedestrian detection and Audi’s front and rear collision preparation systems.
Audi’s version of a blind-spot monitor and rear traffic alert is also standard, with an exit assist feature to warn oncoming traffic before you open the door.
Lane departure warning, automatic high beam headlights, mirror monitors, front and rear parking sensors, and rear-seat side airbags complete the safety system.
Options for the Premium trim are limited to 20-inch wheel upgrades and some packages. Most notable is the Comfort package which features a heated steering wheel, 360-degree Top View camera, and an Audi Phone Box signal booster with a wireless charging pad. The tow package adds a hitch receiver and a 7-pin connector.
There’s also a Black Optic pack for a more threatening look. Taking into account the $1,095 destination cost, the Audi Q7 Premium 2022 without options costs $56,895. On a 60-month loan with 3% financing, monthly payments come to $1,022.
2022 Audi Q7 Premium Plus
Of the three Q7 trim levels, we think Premium Plus is the best. It includes all the Premium features plus the contents of the Convenience package, then adds or upgrades with more standard equipment.
Audio gets a significant upgrade to the 1,900-watt, 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premium 3D sound system. In addition to the standard Premium driver assistance, Premium Plus adds Active Lane Assist (lane centering) and adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist.
These additional features alone make the extra few thousand dollars of Premium Plus orders worth every penny. But the optional Executive package which is not available in Premium makes the cake even more appealing.
Opting for the Executive package features 4-zone automatic climate control, tailgate and tailgate blinds, ventilated driver and passenger seats with 4-way lumbar power, and heated rear seats.
Also available are Matrix-design LED headlamps and a black fabric headliner, the latter being a no-cost option. At destination cost, the 2022 Audi Q7 Premium Plus costs $59,795. That makes $1,074 per month or just $52 more than Premium.
2022 Audi Q7 Prestige
The top-line Prestige trim comes only with the larger 3.0-liter engine. It builds on Premium Plus with the Executive package and Matrix light options, then adds 20-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, soft-close power doors, head-up display, and contour/ambient multi-color LED lighting.
On the options side, buyers can choose from all-wheel steering, Audi laser headlights with power washers and dynamic front and rear turn indicators, plus thermal Night Vision Assist with large animal detection.
The Luxury package adds a Valcona/Cricket leather interior with an Extended Leather package, massaged and ventilated front seats, memory function for passenger seats, and an Alcantara headliner.
At $73,095 on purpose, the Prestige is significantly more expensive than Premium Plus and even more so with the added options. On a 60-month loan at 3%, Prestige will cost you $1,313, or nearly $240 more a month on top of Premium Plus.
2022 Audi SQ7 ($86,500 Premium Plus), ($91,500 Prestige)
The SQ7 is a high-performance version of the Q7. Powered by a 500-horsepower turbocharged V8 engine, the SQ7 can hit 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds.
SQ7 starts with Premium Plus. Included with this trim are all-wheel steering, S-tuned adaptive air suspension, adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, Active Lane Assist, Matrix LED headlights, Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium sound system, and Valcona leather sports seats.
Move to the SQ7 Prestige, and you’ll get all the features on the Q7 Prestige, but with the option for the Sport package which contains a Quattro sport rear differential, brake calipers painted red and Active Roll Stabilization.
2022 Audi Q7 MPG
Not really. We give a score of 3 here for the most common version. It’s a turbo-6 Q7, which the EPA rates at 17 mpg city, 21 highway, and 18 combined, on premium fuel. Its mild hybrid system helps efficiency in the city. For better economy, go with the turbo-4, rated at 19/23/21 mpg.
And if you’re lavish with money, fuel, and power—the hallmarks of late-stage capitalism—the SQ7 checks all its merits at 15/21/17 mpg. The mild-hybrid Q7 still records decent mileage.
2022 Audi Q7 Interior
For the interior, the designers have installed Audi S Line seats, as well as more carbon accents and decorative stitching available.
A family of five received an enthusiastic welcome in Q7. Audi paired it with large seats in the first two rows and made the child-sized third row easy to fold. We gave it a 9 for convenience, only missing the points we gave for a truly luxurious finish.
It’s not a minivan, but the Q7 gives itself just fine as a means of mass transportation. The front passengers have the best, with heated, leather-covered seats that power all kinds of fine driving positions.
Audi wrapped the dashboard in front of it in wood and metal trim and offered softer leather and cooling to enhance it.
The second row has a three-section split seat back, which allows passengers to recline for greater comfort. The three adults across will be friendlier before the ride than after, but with about 39 inches of legroom and plenty of headroom, the taller person fits well in the center outboard seat.
On the way back, smaller people will be happy enough, but the 29.2-inch legroom makes the larger ones too cramped for comfort. The Q7 can accommodate up to seven passengers, but in that configuration, it only has 14.2 cubic feet of cargo space.
Power down the back row and have over 35 cubic feet of space; it maxes out behind the front seats by about 70 cubic feet, some of the sports bags shy of vehicles like the Kia Telluride and Acura MDX.
The Q7 meets them with the great build quality, but it’s a quieter, quieter affair, with plenty of low-key finishes and sound-killing to soothe the ride.
2022 Audi Q7 Tech
It’s fast with any of the three available powertrains, but the most common is also the best mix of speed and quiet. We gave the Q7 a score of 8 for performance, with two points for speed and one for steady-state stability.
For the sake of efficiency, Audi offers a 248-hp 2.0-liter turbo-4 in the Q7, but only in lower trims. Still equipped with standard all-wheel drive, the Q7 45 is no slouch; it can run and shoot from 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds, with an Audi watch.
The top speed is set at 130 mph. We’d be fine if the 335-hp 3.0-liter turbo-6 weren’t around. With 369 lb-ft of torque, it hits 60 in 5.7 seconds and uses no more fuel to do so. There is some turbo lag, which is overcome by Audi’s 8-speed automatic with shift paddles and a sport mode program that keeps the engine on the right side of the revs.
From launch, it jumps beat, but on the highway past the turbo-6 Q7 a few jumps. This is all the more impressive considering the SUV’s hefty weight from 4,791 to 5,291 lb. We think this is the best balance between power and value; it’s standard on the Prestige-trim Q7s.
For top thrust, the SQ7 incorporates a 500-hp, twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine with 568 lb-ft of torque under the same hood. Heat-fast, it’ll pounce at 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, and hurtle to a top speed of 155 mph.
Even without the available adaptive air suspension, the Q7’s road behavior ditches the neutral attitude of the United Nations catering team. It corners in a measured flat response, steering with weight (if not so much feedback), and uses its variable all-wheel-drive system to deliver torque to the grippy wheels.
It’s smooth in corners, and with air suspension (and big 19-inch wheels), it’s smooth and quiet at triple-digit speeds. What are family car drivers looking for? We thought so.
If you’re interested in towing, the Q7 has you covered too. The Turbo-4 crossover can pull 4,400 lb, while other models can pull up to 7,700 lb, with the right hitch.
2022 Audi Q7 Release Date
There’s no official release date for the Audi Q7 2022 and Audi Q7 Hybrid USA Release Date, but we expect it to arrive in late spring or early summer 2021 based on previous years’ sales dates.
The Q7 Competition Plus and Q8 Competition Plus start shipping in Europe this summer. Availability in the United States is unclear as Audi has yet to announce plans for Q7 2022 and Q8 for these markets.
Audi for 2022 will also offer S Line Competition and S Line Competition Plus styling packages for the A1, A4, and A5 model lines. This styling pack also features exterior color accents but skips the carbon items included in the Q7 Competition Plus and Q8 Competition Plus models.
2022 Audi Q7 Price
The price of the Q7 2022 has also not been confirmed. However, with no change in employment, we expect to see only an increase in inflation prices relative to the current MSRP $56,045 to $86,095 range (including destination costs).
Audi sells the Q7 in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim. We’ll take the base $56,895 Q7 45 Premium, which features an immersive 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, as well as an 8.6-inch touchscreen that manages climate control.
It’s a quick study, easy-to-understand system, save to switch between favorites and other infotainment modes. Audi Q7 PHEV 2022 Verdict
So is the Audi Q7 TFSi e Audi Q7 Plug In Hybrid to beat the rest? It has some big plus points – interior space, tech suite – but it’s not exactly bright.
After all, the Q7, being the largest SUV in the Audi lineup, is known as a 7-seater. However, as a PHEV version, it loses the rear row to a 5-seater – which somewhat reduces its unique appeal, and therefore you can opt for the smaller Q5 e (or even the incoming Q3 e) and save money. bulk and even cash.
Plus the Q7 PHEVs claimed a 27-mile range on electricity only – and we didn’t manage to achieve that claim for a week of use, including recharging – just fine.
