2024 Audi S5 is a luxury-styled car that is still very popular today in the automotive market, where the S5 coupe and convertible models are powered by a 349 hp turbocharged V-6 which is a significant improvement over the regular A5’s 261 hp turbo-four engine. Audi gave the S5 sharper suspension tuning and a more purposeful design to complement the more powerful powertrain.
The S5 costs about $10,000 more than the regular A5, but if you’re like us, you’ll find the added performance worth it. The S5’s personality is softer than some of its direct competitors, such as the Caddy CT4-V Blackwing and Mercedes-AMG C43.
Interior-wise, the S5 coupe and drop-top are adequate for a two-door vehicle, but if you need to transport adults in the second row regularly, consider the S5 Sportback four-door hatchback, which we review separately.
The S5’s luxurious interior and attractively presented infotainment system are the main attractions, and its various driving modes allow you to easily switch between relaxed and sporty driving sensations.
- More standard technology for 2024
- Multiple body styles to choose from
- So good to look at
2024 Audi S5 Review
For its part, it’s well known that Audi uses the letter S to stand for sport. When an Audi has an S in its name, you can bet that it offers more power, performance, and overall driving satisfaction than the vehicles the company is based on (but not as much as the Audi RS models).
It helps to understand what the 2024 Audi S5 lineup offers compared to the equivalent A5 model. This year, the S5 continues with the coupe, convertible (Cabriolet), and hatchback (Sportback) body styles, each of which receives more standard equipment, including driver assistance, parking assistance, and a remote engine start feature.
Depending on the body style you choose, you can save around ten thousand dollars by choosing the Audi A5 over the sport-tuned Audi S5.
However, you’ll miss out on the more powerful turbocharged V6 engine, sport-tuned suspension, and larger front brakes. The Audi S5 is also quicker to accelerate, shaving off about a second from 60 mph.
The S5 model also features an upgraded interior with more seat bolsters, diamond-stitched leather, and a massage function. Exclusive options include an available speed-dependent variable-ratio steering system with faster response to driver inputs, a sport rear differential that improves handling, and an adaptive damping suspension.
- The turbocharged engine provides strong acceleration.
- Excellent all-wheel-drive grip and handling confidence
- Interior and external design that is both modern and trendy
- The standard equipment list has been expanded.
- Package for an improved navigation system
- Colors: Arkona White and Progressive Red
The Audi S5 is also quicker to accelerate, shaving off about a second from 60 mph. A more powerful turbocharged V6 engine, sport-tuned suspension, and larger front brakes.
There’s no doubt the Audi S5 model also has an upgraded interior with more seat bolsters, diamond-stitched leather, and a massage function.
We expect exclusive options including an available speed-dependent variable-ratio steering system with quicker response to driver input, a handling-enhancing sport rear differential, and adaptive damping suspension.
- More common driver assistance features
- Remote start is included, as is a heated steering wheel with hands-on detection.
- The included Navigation package includes traffic sign recognition, predictive adaptive cruise control, and a trial membership to Audi Connect Plus. The exterior colors are Tango Red
- Metallic and Arkona White replace Tango Red Metallic and Ibis White.
What We Think
We’re glad that Audi has expanded the basic active driver assistance features in its lineup this year, as this was one of our main complaints.
All that remains is some additional NVH tuning to reduce tire noise, slightly better fuel economy, and a heavier steering wheel. You can’t go wrong with the S5 luxury compact if you want a little more personality and capability than the S4.
The S5 reaches the pinnacle of Audi’s small vehicle portfolio in several ways. More attractive than the S4, and more powerful than the standard A5, but not as crazy as the RS5, the car is available as a practical and athletic fastback sedan. It is also available as a four-passenger coupe or convertible.

2024 Audi S5 Sportback
Although there haven’t been any significant upgrades to the 2024 Audi S5 Sportback since 2018, it’s still capable of captivating the hearts of vehicle lovers with its elegant styling and 349-hp turbocharged V-6 engine.
All variants come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The acceleration is quick, and the stiff suspension gives it keen reflexes for cornering, but it lacks the soul and drama that rivals like the BMW M340i and Mercedes-AMG C43 offer.
The S5 Sportback, on the other hand, is stylish and practical, with its slanted coupe-like roofline neatly concealing a spacious trunk and a rear liftgate that opens wide.
The interior is well-tailored and fashioned in upscale materials, with plenty of tech amenities such as touchscreen infotainment with navigation, wireless smartphone charging, Apple Carplay, and Android Auto.
Adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping help, a parking aid system, a heated steering wheel, and a smartphone-based remote start option are now standard on the S5 Sportback for 2024. The optional Navigation package now includes traffic sign recognition.
2024 Audi S5 Interior
The interior of the S5 is distinguished by soft-touch, expensive-feeling materials, high-quality fit-and-finish, and a user-friendly design. Both the driver and front-seat passenger have power-adjustable seats that are pleasant and spacious, while rear-seat passengers have a minimal minimum of acceptable space.
Those looking for more rear-seat space might consider the four-door S5 Sportback, which has a larger wheelbase and greater space for rear passengers. The interior of the S5 begins with a conservative yet modern dashboard design stitched together with laser-tight perfection.
Every S5 also boasts comforts like heated and massaging front seats, three-zone temperature control, and push-button start. The S5 coupe held as much carry-on luggage as the previous 440i coupe we tested, making it one of the best in its class.
Meanwhile, the convertible’s trunk held the same number of carry-ons as the C43 cabriolet’s. Furthermore, the S5’s low lift-over height and wide trunk opening make loading items into the cargo space a breeze.
The graphics on Audi’s 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system are clear and bright. Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, a fully adjustable digital instrument panel, can display practically anything with as much information as you desire.
The navigation system is basic and easy to use. The voice controls work well, and while they aren’t completely conversational, the commands are near and have a wide range of tasks. Smartphone interaction with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard.
The cargo area under the hatch in the back of the S5 Sportback is spacious. The rear seats’ 40/20/40 split helps provide versatility for odd-sized goods. The cargo area is free of intrusions, and the load height is adequate.
The cabin’s storage for minor goods is barely adequate. There are two little pockets in the middle console area that can hold a phone, keys, or credit cards.
The middle console bin can hold a wallet and other small items, but nothing larger. Because the cupholders are on the small side, don’t expect to stop for a Big Gulp.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Audi’s latest infotainment software, which is shown on a high-mounted 10.1-inch touchscreen, is standard on every S5. Voice recognition and steering-wheel controls are also available, but the intuitive rotary controller in the center console has been removed.
The S5 can be outfitted with a slick-looking 12.3-inch fully digital gauge cluster, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 705-watt Bang & Olufsen audio system, in addition to basic Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

2024 Audi S5 Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The same 349-hp turbocharged V-6 engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive are standard on all S5s. The latest S5 coupe we drove had solid acceleration in a class of swift alternatives because of its launch-control system and all-wheel-drive traction.
It moved from zero to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds in our testing. Despite the extra weight, the convertible S5 cabriolet we tested was nevertheless rather fast, reaching 60 mph in 4.8 seconds.
The optional 19-inch performance tires and the S Sport package, which includes a torque-vectoring rear differential and adjustable dampers, were installed on both of the two-door S5s we drove.
Our test vehicles’ rides were firm but nonetheless comfortable. The coupe also came with Dynamic Steering, which quickens steering when the wheel is turned further from the center.
However, we found the system to be uncommunicative and unpredictable; we recommend that you stick with the usual fixed-ratio steering setup.
We drove a four-door hatchback, the S5 Sportback. The turbocharged V6 has plenty of power, even if it isn’t immediately explosive off the line. Once underway, acceleration is quick, steady, and pleasurable.
Our S5 Sportback test car accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds. The brakes do a good job of bringing all that speed to a halt, with reasonably fade-free performance in dynamic conditions, but they’re also easy and smooth to use on a daily commute.
The S5 is also capable around corners. The optional S Sport package was installed on our vehicle. It combines the best of all-wheel-drive traction with the responsiveness of a rear-wheel-drive vehicle. The dynamic steering in the S5 also feels perfectly matched to the drive mode setting you’re in.
The S5 Sportback’s balance continues to astound us. Comfort is just as important as performance. The front seats are extremely supportive and comfortable, and the available heated and ventilated elements operate quickly.
The simple climate control accurately maintains the cabin temperature, and the fans aren’t too loud, even on high.
The optional adaptive suspension in the S5 is a superb option because it provides exceptional attributes in a variety of situations. Comfort mode easily smooths out bumpy interstates and broken pavement, while Dynamic mode controls body motion during enthusiastic driving.
At all speeds, the S5 is relatively quiet and well-isolated from road and wind noise.
2024 Audi S5 MPG
With a powerful turbocharged V-6 and standard all-wheel drive, the S5 coupe and cabriolet might be expected to have poor fuel economy. The fixed-roof variant, on the other hand, earns an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway the convertible cuts the city and highway ratings by 1 and 2 mpg, respectively.
We evaluated both body styles on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route as part of our thorough testing procedure, and the coupe got 30 mpg while the cabriolet got 32. Visit the EPA’s website for additional information on the S5’s fuel efficiency.
2024 Audi S5 Models
We believe the S5 Premium Plus offers the best combination of equipment and value. It gets new digital gauges, a fantastic Bang & Olufsen premium music system, a surround-view camera, and a blind-spot warning system. It is also your ticket to the S Sport package and improved performance.
The 2024 Audi S5 is a two-door coupe, two-door convertible, and four-door hatchback body style. Each comes in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels, with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine (349 horsepower, 369 lb-ft of torque), an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive.
2024 Audi S5 Trim Level
This year, the 2024 Audi S5 is offered in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. Coupe and Sportback variants are the most cheap, with Premium grades costing the same $57,895. The Cabriolet Prestige, priced at $73,595, is the most expensive S5 model.
2024 Audi S5 Price
We’d go for the Audi S5 Premium Plus coupe. Convertibles are wonderful, but in the S5’s application, the cabriolet is slower and costs an extra $8600 at every trim level.
The Premium Plus trim is a nice compromise between options and price, with standard features including Audi’s Virtual Cockpit display, blind-spot monitoring, passive keyless entry, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and more leatherette surfaces throughout the cabin.
We also like the racier appearance of the carbon fiber inside accents, and we’d be negligent if we didn’t optimize the performance of our S5. Adaptive dampers, a torque-vectoring rear differential, and red brake calipers are included.
- Premium Coupe $57,895
- Premium Plus Coupe $60,895
- Prestige Coupe $64,995
- Premium Cabriolet $66,495
- Premium Plus Cabriolet $69,495
- Prestige Cabriolet $73,595
2024 Audi S5 Release Date
There is no official release date for this sedan, but we estimate that the 2024 Audi S5 will be launched in mid-2023.
The S5 is well-balanced in terms of performance and luxury. It’s a stunning vehicle both inside and out, with simple controls. If you want to take it on twisting roads, it’s actually pleasant, and it doesn’t sacrifice comfort or luxury. It’s not perfect the design limits back passenger space and sight, and the top-tier Prestige model is a little pricey but it’s a strong contender in the class. We’ll be back shortly with more information on the 2024 Audi S5, so be sure to bookmark the Audi Car USA website for the latest information on the Audi S5 and other Audi future-related updates.
