2025 Audi A8 gives the impression of a conservative yet confident demeanor and style making it a great fighter in a sea of high-end luxury sedans. The Audi A8’s interior is just as spacious and pleasant as its older rivals, the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but the arrangement and layout of controls are thoughtfully and attractively designed.
The only engine option is the turbocharged V-6, which, while not as fast as the competition, fulfills the goal of being unobtrusive with its quiet operation. Extensive soundproofing measures ensure that the interior is as quiet as the exterior, so the driver and passengers arrive at their destination refreshed and comfortable.
The Audi A8 is capable of impressive speed through gently winding roads and handles even tight corners with a finesse that belies its size.

2025 Audi A8 Review
The 2025 Audi A8 refreshed for 2022, enters the new year with few changes. What We Believe
In a segment where some sedans strive to strike a mix between luxury and sport, the 2024 Audi A8 favors comfort above sport. It’s extraordinarily comfy and quiet, effectively separating its passengers from the outside world—and from the driving experience itself.
Moving past the A8’s relatively nondescript look, the cabin is brimming with high-quality trim and materials. The front seats are extremely comfortable, while the available executive back seats are even more spacious and accommodating.
Despite the abundance of digital real estate, several competitors are already offering larger screens, although with more complicated user interfaces.
Nothing appears to disrupt the A8’s tranquillity when on the go. Despite the great level of driving finesse, the overall experience is numb and soulless. The V-8-powered S8 alters that, but the A8 with its necessary V-6 is never genuinely enjoyable.
The A8 is an excellent alternative for drivers (or chauffeurs) who prioritize luxury over all else, especially given its inexpensive price. Those who prefer driving as much as they enjoy relaxing in the rear seat, however, have more options.
2025 Audi A8 Update
The next-generation 2025 Audi A8 will make its debut in 2024 as the production-ready Grandsphere. Marc Lichte, the design director, said it will be “very close” to the concept.
Mercedes-Benz redesigned the S-Class and offered it an electric counterpart in the form of the EQS, a dedicated EV. BMW did something similar with the 7 Series, however the i7 shares the platform with the ICE-powered models.
Audi currently does not offer a full-size electric vehicle, but that will change in 2024 with the introduction of the next-generation A8. Unlike its two competitors, the Ingolstadt team intends to market its next flagship only as an EV.
Although no spy images have been released, the all-new Four Rings range-topper will be shown next year, with styling clearly influenced by the Grandsphere.
The elegant design, which will be presented in September 2021, is one of four Sphere concepts created by Audi to showcase its electrified portfolio. To recap, the business expects to offer only EVs beginning in 2026 and phase out ICE vehicles by 2033.
Audi design manager Marc Lichte told Autocar that the Grandsphere is “very close” to how the A8 will look. He went on to say that it will not be a carbon clone of the show car, but rather a “very concrete teaser” of the production model.
According to the British publication, the A8 E-Tron will be based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture co-developed with Porsche.
The concept was not only larger than the global long-wheelbase model, but it also stretched further than the Maybach-rivaling Horch version marketed solely in China. We’ll remind you that the design was billed as a “private jet for the road,” with a length of 5.35 meters (17.6 feet) and a large wheelbase of 3.19 meters (10.5 feet).
While technical details about the actual car have yet to be published, we do know that the Grandsphere featured an all-wheel drive powered by a pair of electric motors.
Audi claimed 710 horsepower (530 kilowatts) and 960 Newton-meters (708 pound-feet) of torque for a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) run in little over four seconds.
A massive 120-kWh battery provided more than 466 miles (750 kilometers) of range and support for a 270-kWh charge, which took less than 10 minutes to achieve more than 186 miles (300 kilometers). According to Audi, charging the battery from 5 to 80 percent took slightly more than 20 minutes.
The A8 E-Tron is unlikely to appear early next year, given no prototypes have been sighted, and logic suggests it will launch later in 2024. It’s unknown whether the current-generation A8 will be replaced by the EV.
2025 Audi A8 Interior
In the full-size luxury sedan class, ample interior space and passenger comfort are non-negotiable, and the A8’s broad wheelbase ensures that both front and rear-seat passengers are comfortably accommodated.
A typical five-passenger arrangement is normal, but a four-passenger seating package is available for well-heeled owners who intend to spend the majority of their time in the back seat with a hired hand behind the wheel.
It removes the back center seat and replaces it with a pair of power-adjustable rear seats with heating, ventilation, and massage, as well as a heated foot-massage function and two individual entertainment tablets. Just keep in mind that all of that rear-seat luxury decreases the number of power settings available to the front passenger.
Similarly, the trunk capacity of 13 cubic feet is small for a large luxury car. The material quality is excellent, and there are several leather variations to pick from, as well as a small forest’s worth of wood inlays.
However, the inside ambiance, like the exterior of the A8, is a little somber and not as opulent as that of the Mercedes S-class.
Connectivity and infotainment
The 10.1-inch upper and 8.6-inch lower haptic center screens with the MMI Touch Response system remain in the 2024 A8 Audi. While most functions are managed by touchscreens or steering wheel controls, the console retains a classic volume knob, which breaks up the otherwise smooth surfaces and provides rapid, straightforward access to setting the music level.
The dual touchscreens are intimidating, but the system responds quickly and is highly configurable, allowing owners to choose their own dedicated buttons on the lower screen while providing permanent navigation, weather, phone functions, and radio buttons on the left side of the upper screen. Just keep in mind that fingerprints stick readily and can be difficult to erase.
Up front, there are two USB connections with combined data and charging capacity, as well as phone integration for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as Amazon Alexa compatibility.
Wi-Fi is provided through Audi Connect Plus. Audi’s signature bright and legible Standard is a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster.
Every A8 has a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, and an 8.6-inch touchscreen for climate and comfort controls. There includes a head-up display, a rear-seat touchscreen, and a 360-degree camera.

2025 Audi A8 E-Tron
Audi’s Grandsphere concept foreshadows the next generation, all-electric A8 flagship.
The 2021 German International Motor Show is proof that even in the midst of a pandemic, massive displays can exist. The IAA Transportation 2021 show in Munich will replace the Paris Motor Show as Europe’s premier event, promoting electrification and alternative transportation alternatives.
Audi’s Grandsphere concept, the latest in a trilogy of ‘Sphere’ show cars showing the automaker’s future design approach, was a standout. Audi has strongly hinted that it will evolve into an all-electric A8, so we’ve imagined what the production model will look like and investigated everything else we know so far.
In comparison to competitors such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW, the new A8, while appealingly restrained, may be regarded as a little disappointing in terms of appearance. Our design research aims to rectify this by combining elements of the Grandsphere concept into a visually appealing, functional product.
Audi’s’singleframe grille has been completely reworked, with chrome accents that spear towards the wheels. The low bonnet and slim headlamps are reminiscent of the R8 supercar, while the scalloped doors and upper beltline complete the streamlined look.
While not as eye-catching as the boat-tailed Grandsphere, the fastback’s rear end features OLED tail lamps and a floating roofline with sculptured rear buttresses.
First Class travel
The Grandsphere concept is no exception to Audi’s reputation for producing some of the best interiors in the industry. The exhibition car featured cutting-edge technology such as projected displays and gesture-based controls.
Fortunately, the Ingolstadt-based maker has assured that future models would retain physical controls for those who want a more tactile experience.
The cabin of the future A8 will be an excellent rendition of the e-tron GTs, with more occupant room, elegance, and environmentally friendly materials.
Among the novelties to be expected are an augmented-reality heads-up display, digital services, a next-generation Audi Virtual Cockpit, and dynamic ambient lighting. For the maximum in comfort, Level 3 and 4 autonomous self-driving systems may arrive in the e-tron’s model cycle.
The 2025 Audi A8 e-Tron is built on the same modular platform as the upcoming Porsche Macan EV and Audi A6 e-tron, both of which are powered by Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture.
The 800-volt system is powered by a 120 kWh battery pack with a range of around 750 kilometers (466 miles) between charges. DC fast-charging at up to 270 kW enables an additional 186 miles (300 km) in 10 minutes, while a charge from 5 to 80% takes only 25 minutes.
According to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive philosophy, the A8 e-tron will have electric motors on both the front and rear axles for the utmost in torque-vectoring grip.
The Grandsphere concept has a total power output of 530 kW (700 horsepower / 710 PS) and torque of 960 Nm (708 lb-ft), allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in less than 4 seconds. This configuration is most likely reserved for the top-tier S8 e-tron, with lower-powered models available.
Competitors Who Move Quickly
The Audi e-tron will compete with the Mercedes-Benz EQS, Tesla Model S, Lucid Air, and BMW’s upcoming i7. A variety of variants are expected, including a Maybach-rivaling flagship with the Horch brand.
The current A8 will remain around for a few more years following a minor facelift in the coming months, so a full debut is not planned until late 2024 or 2025.

2025 Audi A8 Engine Performance
The only engine option is a turbocharged 335-horsepower V-6 enhanced by a 48-volt hybrid system. (The more powerful S8 has a turbocharged V-8 with 563 horsepower.) All-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are standard.
The A8 accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds, lagging the previous six-cylinder Mercedes-Benz S500 we drove by a few tenths. Above all, the Audi engine is a smooth performer, thanks in part to extensive sound-deadening efforts; additionally, with all 331 foot-pounds of torque available from a low 1370 rpm, you don’t need to flog the engine in typical driving to extract snappy acceleration.
The A8 comes standard with adjustable air suspension and adaptive dampers, and like all Audi sedans, it is designed for a brand-specific balance of athleticism and ride comfort that defies empirical spec sheet facts.
2025 Audi A8 MPG
According to the EPA, the 2025 Audi A8 gets 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the interstate.
We haven’t yet put an A8 through C/D’s 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, but a long-wheelbase 2019 A8L we drove previously returned 19 mpg in combined city-and-highway driving.
What Is the Difference Between the A8 and the S8?
Consider the S8 to be the A8’s more powerful, performance-oriented sibling. The engine, a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 with 563 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, is key to this, allowing for a 3.7-second 060 mph launch in our testing.
Furthermore, the S8’s improved brakes and chassis provide handling comparable to dedicated sports cars. Despite this, the S8 appears to be every bit as comfy and luxurious as the ordinary A8, especially when coupled with the optional predictive air suspension system.
A camera is used in this system to scan the road ahead for defects and trigger each corner of the car accordingly. The Audi S8’s ability to accomplish so many things is astounding.
