2025 Audi Q5: All-New Q5 Exclusive Luxury SUV Reviews

Posted on

2025 Audi Q5 is a type of vehicle with an SUV model. This luxury compact crossover exemplifies Audi’s approach to style, technology, and all-wheel drive performance. The original Q5 went on sale in 2009, and the current second-generation Q5 hit shelves in 2018. The Q5 Sportback is a more style-focused version.

As its alphanumeric designation suggests, the 2025 Audi Q5 looks like the middle child in Audi’s SUV series, sitting between the smaller Q3 and the larger three-row Q7. The Q5 has comfortable seating for five, stylish looks, and an excellent build.

We wondered when Audi would release the new Q5 as the current generation enters its sixth year, and we finally have the answer. Spy photos show a fairly complete example of the next-generation Q5, and we expect Audi to introduce a new version of this popular SUV in the summer of 2024.

The 2025 Audi Q5 is not only in the middle of the Audi portfolio but also occupies a middle position in the compact luxury segment. Although comprehensive, it doesn’t stand out in any particular category, making it easy to overlook. We hope the 2025 model lifts the Q5 out of the box, giving it something to brag about.

2025 Audi Q5 Reviews

Audi’s Q5 has been a huge success, consistently outselling everything else in the Ingolstadt portfolio. To spice things up, the next-generation Q5 has been spotted in prototype testing with a striking new look that aims to build on the current model’s success.

Like its A4 showroom counterpart, it will be the only Q5 powered by an internal combustion engine before the brand transitions entirely to battery-electric propulsion by the end of the decade. Let’s investigate all we know about the Q5’s style, technology, and powertrains.

Audi has kept the formula for the Q5 basic to keep traffic in its showrooms with an inoffensive yet beautiful appearance. A bigger single-frame grille is flanked by powerful vertical side intakes and wedge-effect LED headlights (no strange-looking split headlamps here).

With a sharper roofline and sporty sheet metal covering, the side profile emits an appealing look. The A6 e-tron concept car series greatly influenced the lower door scallops and paneling. Nice! A full-width tail lamp cluster with animated welcome lighting, dual exhausts, and a steeply sloped rear window characterize the rear-end appearance.

The new crossover, wrapped in rotating camouflage, has a more curved front and a lower grille. Slimmer headlights and wider lower intakes with honeycomb mesh inserts complete the new design. The latter is also present on the new side intakes with a single horizontal bar.

The new crossover also has a more unified front end and flowing bodywork with simple curves. A recognizable greenhouse and a noticeably longer wheelbase can also be seen. This prototype also uses light wheels supported by large discs.

At the rear, we can see sleek taillights with attractive graphics. They are accompanied by a more online liftgate with a contemporary design and dramatic details. This crossover also uses a four-tailpipe exhaust system and a more aggressive rear bumper.

Previous spy shots revealed that the vehicle will have a tiered console and an updated steering wheel. It will be joined by a digital instrument cluster and a larger infotainment system with a square display. Further down, a redesigned center stack with slim air vents and new switchgear will be found. A simple shifter is also available for the driver.

What We Think

As long-time Audi automobile observers, we believe the Audi Q5 gives a well-balanced experience. As a result, it is impressive in many ways but not particularly fascinating.

First and foremost, the Q5 exudes opulence. The external design is simple and fitted yet comfortable and modern. The interior design is serene, cozy, and cutting-edge. Many high-end options are available, including heated rear seats, multi-colored ambient interior lighting, animated LED headlights and taillights, and a 19-speaker music system. We appreciate the inclusion of adaptive cruise control for 2023.

The Q5’s overall quality, features, and comfort make driving enjoyable, but it’s a dull SUV. While its standard Quattro AWD system makes it speedy and quiet, some of its rivals are more enjoyable to drive. The SQ5 adds a lot of power, but the transmission can’t keep up.

However, those who value comfort, design, and quality over speed will find it in the Audi Q5. The Q5 Sportback encapsulates these appealing features in a more streamlined package.

Redesign

To be honest, the 2025 Audi Q5’s overall layout is not that surprising, as it shares characteristics with other recent vehicles produced by the Ingolstadt company. The large central screen for the infotainment system takes center stage on the dual-layer dashboard and appears to be a touchscreen unit based on the driver’s fingerprints.

We can see the ‘quattro’ badge underneath, and further down are the central air vents and HVAC controls, which have the original buttons and knobs. There’s also a cubby and what looks like a push-button gear selector on the center console.

Another tablet-like display, the digital instrument cluster, can be found behind the redesigned steering wheel. The dashboard appears partially covered in dust-collecting fabric, which is likely also present on the door cards and other interior components.

Q5 Spied Design

It was only yesterday that our spy photographers captured the next-generation BMW X3 in M Performance trim, and now they’re back with a new batch of spy photos of one of its primary rivals. The new Audi SQ5 appears to have the complete production body and the final headlights and taillights. The quad exhaust system will remain, and hopefully, it will be available in all areas where the Four Rings will sell the spicy crossover.

Thanks to a stronger suspension arrangement, the 2025 SQ5 rides low to the ground, giving it the appearance of a large hot hatchback. In true Audi form, the look appears to be evolutionary, and some design cues seem to be drawn from the Q4 E-Tron.

Even with the camouflage, there is one noticeable difference at the back where the big clamshell tailgate is no longer there, implying that the aperture is likely narrower.

The vehicle paparazzi couldn’t look inside, but prior prototypes’ interiors were captured, revealing some significant alterations. Audi has installed a huge tablet-like entertainment system, joined by a rectangular digital driver’s display that is no longer nicely integrated into the dashboard.

The center console will include a few standard controls and an exceptionally big “Quattro” insignia located between the primary screen and the central air vents.

Regarding the greasy bits, this will undoubtedly be the last Q5 generation to offer combustion engines. Audi has said unequivocally that its last ICE vehicle will be introduced in 2025, and all future cars will be pure EVs beginning in 2026.

The Ingolstadt-based premium brand will discontinue production of gasoline/diesel vehicles in 2033. Given how severe pollution laws are becoming, reasoning suggests that oil burners could be phased out much before the planned ICE cutoff date.

Depending on the location, the Audi SQ5 has had both gasoline and diesel V6 engines. With the Euro 7 standard looming, some electrification is likely to be incorporated into the next-generation car, so expect a mild-hybrid arrangement at the very least.

Hopefully, the BMW X3 M50i rival will retain all six cylinders rather than reduce to a four-pot engine. Whatever the situation, it appears highly improbable that the power will be reduced in comparison to the current model.

We’ve been spying on the third-generation Q5 since March 2022, so the world premiere is likely to happen before the end of this year. Audi may opt to reveal the SQ5 at a later date. Whether the German luxury brand will release an RS Q5 to compete with the BMW X3 M and Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 is uncertain.

2025 Audi Q5 Exterior

On the outside, the 2025 Audi Q5 prototype is still covered in a thick layer of camouflage to cover its design. Despite this, we can observe that the headlights have a similar shape to the current model, even though they are completely new, and the grille appears much smaller. The roofline curves slightly towards the rear, but not much, as the next Q5 will be joined by the Q5 Sportback, a coupe-like variant for individuals who prefer style over substance. The dual exhaust pipes are visible on the left side of the rear bumper, and those taillights are best ignored as they are not final production units.

2025 Audi Q5 Interior

A redesigned cabin will have larger screens and more technology than ever. It’ll also have futuristic lines, flush-mount touch displays, and a strong emphasis on premium craftsmanship, comparable to the future A4 and e-tron GT and potentially even the new Chinese-market-only Q5 e-tron (seen above).

A big digital instrument cluster, Audi’s third-generation infotainment platform (MIB 3), a heads-up display, and Amazon Alexa voice assistance are among the primary technological highlights.

Level 2 semi-autonomous driving with dynamic lane steering, full-range adaptive cruise with speed-sign control, and adaptive suspension will be available as driver assistance.

2025 Audi Q5 Engine Performance

Although the performance specifications are unknown, the current crossover is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 349 horsepower (260 kW / 374 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque.

It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which allows the US-spec SQ5 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) in 4.7 seconds before reaching 155 mph (250 km/h).

In Europe, the 3.0-liter TDI engine produces 336 horsepower (251 kW / 341 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. It allows the crossover to accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.1 seconds.

Platform

The new Audi Q5 will be the last to use an internal combustion engine and will be available with a range of mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. They could also get a diesel engine or two in Europe, as diesel is still quite popular there, and battery-electric forms are very unlikely. But don’t worry, Audi is working on an e-tron version of the Q6. The upcoming Q5 also looks at the cool SQ5 model, which may get a V6 engine, perhaps with mild hybrid assistance, and possibly up to 370 hp available through the right foot.

The new Audi Q5, which is expected to be powered by an upgraded version of the MLB Evo architecture, will be launched in the next year or two. According to the latest reports, this model will debut in 2024, making it a 2025 model when released in the United States.

2025 Audi Q5 Hybrid

The Q5 will share a redesigned MLB Evo chassis with the future B10 A4, as well as a selection of 48-volt mild-hybrid petrol and diesel engines and a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The mild hybridized petrol is powered by an upgraded 2.0-liter TFSI engine linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.

The plug-in hybrid combines a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine with a 141-hp electric motor and an 11.3-kWh lithium-ion battery to provide 362 hp (266 kW). Unfortunately, water cooler speculation claims that a BMW X3 M-rivaling RS Q5 model will not be available, with performance duties once again falling to the warmed-up SQ5.

2025 Audi Q5 Release Date

Audi Q5 2025 Release Date: Alternatives to the upcoming Q5 include the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Porsche Macan, Volvo XC60, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Jaguar F-Pace, Lincoln Corsair, Lexus RX, and, to a lesser extent, Mazda’s new and more premium CX-60 in Europe, Japan, and other markets. A wider-body version will come to North America as the CX-70.

The widespread assumption is that the third generation Q5 will debut in 2024 as a 2025MY, though some reports indicate it could arrive at the end of next year.

2025 Audi Q5 Price

Promising changes with adaptive cruise control are now standard, and Bang & Olufsen audio upgrades are now included. Not only that, but the 2025 Audi Q5, with its quiet, comfortable, and spacious cabin we estimate MSRP range of $45,200 – $68,000

Verdict

The compact luxury SUV sector offers many options. The Acura RDX and Genesis GV70 provide plenty of luxury amenities, while the Mercedes-Benz GLC combines technology, traditional elegance, efficiency, and performance in one sleek package. BMW is also planning a new X3 for 2024.

An all-new Audi Q5 is apparently in the works for 2025 and can’t come soon enough. That’s not to say the current Q5 isn’t a good choice, but it has a habit of being overlooked in a crowd. We anticipate a more complete package from the new Q5, so stay tuned to Edmunds for additional information on the 2025 Q5.

The Q5 is a competent luxury SUV but lacks standout traits, making it a must-buy. While Audi’s best-selling car is roomy, refined, and surprisingly elegant, the small luxury SUV class is full of competitors offering the same qualities but superior performance and all-around fun.

We’ll be back shortly with more information on the 2025 Audi Q5, so bookmark the Audi Car USA website for the latest information on the Audi Q7 and other future Audi updates.
