2019 Audi A4 Avant
2019 Audi A4 Avant welcome to audicarusa.com discover New Audi sedans, SUVs & coupes get our expert review. In recent months, we’ve shared a few batches representing the Audi A4, and in all cases, the prototypes had very little camouflage. Now it makes sense why the Four Rings didn’t even bother to properly disguise the test vehicles, as the changes the premium sedan and carriages have undergone are quite subtle. The A4 Sedan and the more practical A4 Avant are ready for the 2019 model year in Europe and feature a new, new bumper that includes the side air intakes with a piece of trim in the form of a “U,” which mimics the appearance of aluminum, but does not. Right next to it is a honeycomb pattern that makes the limousine and the car look a bit sportier. Some of the airflow flowing through the air intakes is directed to the wheel casings, where it flows past the wheels to boost the aero.
As for the single-frame grille, its design depends on the A4 version. For example, if you use the optional S Line exterior pack, the grid now offers slats that mimic a 3D look. Audi has also flicked with the rear bumper, installing two new trapeze exhaust systems that replace the smaller and round tailpipes. Between the two is a revised diffuser, which is now smaller than before. The catalog of alloy wheels includes sets of 16 to 19 inches, which have also been updated. Another novelty brought by the 2019MY is the availability of an S Line Competition package with Turbo Blue paint, an “RS ” spoiler on the Avant and a selenite silver for the front bumper blade and stone chip guardian strip. Other treats include the Audi logo on the lower part of the rear doors, red brake calipers, LED headlights, sports suspension and 19-inch rims from Audi Sport.
The 2019 Audi A4 with the S Line Competition Pack also offers some interior changes, where there are black sub-leather sports seats, a triple steering wheel, and RS carbon insoles. The cabin builds on the S Line’s black interior package and can be configured with S sports seats in magma red or several other shades. In the domestic market of Germany, Audi will have the mildly updated A4 Sedan and A4 Avant on sale from the third quarter.

The new BMW 3 Series sedan is a car legendary for its handling characteristics and performance in the class and BMW want to revive that with the seventh generation of a car that has been continuously produced for 43 years. It obviously faces strong competition from arch-rivals Mercedes-Benz and Audi, as well as other manufacturers such as Jaguar or the electric Tesla. But before we go into detail, we see here with the naked eye: That the new 3-series is bigger than the old (F30) generation. It’s 185.3 inches long (3.34 inches longer than the old 3-series), 71.9 inches wide (which is 0.6 inches wider than the ‘ 12 models) and 56.7 inches tall. Of course, the wheelbase has also been expanded, more precisely by 1.6 inches and now measures 112.2 inches.

By contrast, the A4 is slightly longer at 186.1 inches but has a shorter wheelbase of just 110 inches. The 2019 Audi A4 Avant is also minimally wider at 72.5 inches and sits just 0.5 inches lower than the Ableman. So size is not a clear differentiator, but the design language is.
With this series of 3-series, BMW is presenting a new design language that is most evident at the top. The two large kidney crickets are now together in a single chrome frame and are connected to the headlights. These, in turn, are characterized by a severely lower line that seemingly splits the two headlights. The separation is underscored by two styling lines, which represent a continuation of two angled bars in the main grid. However, these lines do not appear in the lower trim level 3 series, which has another front bumper with two NACA style air intakes on the side and a central main entrance that has its outer dots down. By contrast, the upper trim model’s bumper is enlivened with the larger main entrance pointing upward and larger exterior intakes containing the displays and fog lights. The hood, which drops forward towards the headlights and follows the line of the upper edge of the kidney handles, is characterized by four styling lines.
The 2019 Audi A4 Avant, on the other hand, looks noticeably dossier even after going through the makeover. Granted, the outer inlets now have an edgy look to make way for the canal below the main barbecue. The grid itself pokes a little more forward after the facelift, but it’s still the same familiar, tilted hexagon shape with horizontal chrome rods. The headlights also retain their angular look with a shape echoed by those of the tail lights.
The BMW’s side profile is significantly more muscular than that of its predecessor. Two lines of character rise at the inside line with the door handle to the back end of the car, connected by a third line leading to the back quarter panel. An important feature is the “Hofmeister-Kink ” – the usual counter-swing at the rear edge of the side window graphic. This stylistic element of the window frame is now integrated into the C-pillar, giving the back doors a frameless glass edge. Basically, the sidelines direct your view backward. The S and SE wheels are exclusive 17-inch or 17-inch alloys, while the M-Sport Trim level comes with its own 18-inch loops.
The side of the Audi is cleaner again. There’s a styling line that helps the side skirts, now with an extra Audi logo on them, pop out as well as waste, which follows the contour of the hood and connects the outer point of the headlights to the outer point of the tail lights. Simplicity at the core, although the profile can be confused with that of the 2012 A4 or even older, depending on how familiar you are with the model in general.
At the back, you’ll be greeted by two, elongated, tail lights accentuated by the trumpeter built into the trunk. The two air intakes on either side are designed to hug the area of the bumper where the exhaust tips leak. In the S and SE models, the NACA style channels are simulated at the front to homogenize the design. The back of the A4 has some elongated tail lights that narrow in the second element that sits on the trunk itself. The facelift brings new exhaust tips in the form of an askew parallelogram.
2019 Audi A4 Avant Interior
This is really not a fair fight for the Audi A4, because it is an older car with older technology that does not degrade with what Audi has to offer on the A6 or A7 models. That’s why Audi should only be the size of its interior. However, since we don’t know what interior measurements the 3-series sets, it’s impossible to compare them at the moment. However, we can point out that the G20 will have more legroom than the outgoing F30. That one had 42 inches of legroom at the front and 35.1 inches at the back. Expect the space in the back to grow by at least five inches. The headspace on the F30 is 40.3 inches and that’s unlikely to change much, although due to the wider vehicles you should expect more shoulder space, which now sits at 55.1 inches for all passengers (except the fifth, which sits in the middle of the back seat Sits. , obviously).
The Audi has 41.3 inches of legroom at the front and 35.7 inches for backseat seats. Meanwhile, the sedan from Ingolstadt already offers less headspace than the sixth generation of the 3 Series and by a few inches (38.9 in front and 37.4 in the back). The volume of the trunk is 16.95 cubic meters, while the Audi has just 13 cubic meters to brake over –, although it is easily accessible and refillable.
As well as the question of size itself, the interior of the 3-series feels a bit more modern. The whole dash is slightly angled to the driver, a feature reminiscent of the timeless 3-series E30. The dials and anything else behind the typical trilingual BMW steering wheel, which is similar to that of the Z4, are displayed on a 5.7-inch (BMW Live Cockpit) display, while the center console is dominated by the 8.8-inch medium digital display, which Controls the entire infotainment system and more. You can also opt for a 12.3-inch display behind the wheel and a 10.25-inch display in the middle of the console with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional Pack. The design of the dash is dominated by clear, straight lines with elongated air locks in the middle, underneath sitting more buttons. What is new is the manual transmission, as is the iDrive selector.
The materials and colors available vary depending on the level of the cut and your personal preferences. In any case, it’s not as sci-fi as some Mercedes-Benz interior, but it looks solid, it looks upscale and it looks pretty intuitive. Even the base seats provide good side support, while the back seat does not look cramped. The M-Sport package is equipped with various seats and Vernasca leather. It is noteworthy that all models in the 3-series benefit as standard from 40:20:40 split folding seats and folding setback supports (same for the A4). Hidden interior lighting with up to 11 color variations is available as standard, which can also be found in the Audi.
The interior of the A4 doesn’t shock anyone. Everything is where you’d expect it to be, and if it wasn’t for the 8.3-inch display, you could almost be fooled into thinking you’re sitting in an older model. Talking about the display, it’s similar to that of deeper Mercedes Benz models, where the IPad-shaped screen was clapped onto the console like the last minute. In fact, the digital screen on the A4 feels much like a follow-up. The console also houses two vents, the A/C control, and some other buttons. It’s enjoyable, and sobriety is the name of the game, but BMW’s interior looks slightly better. Now, like Audi, I don’t expect them to chase the must in class with their next A4, so I expect a similar look for years to come. That’s not something bad, just a bit boring.

2019 Audi A4 Avant Engine
As I said, the first 3-cycle engine options to launch in March next year will only be available with the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. In fact, only the RWD diesel 3 sedan (318d and 320d, not the 330d) will have the 6-speed manual. All xDrive cars will also be equipped with automatic transmission. The M340i that will follow has the 6-cylinder turbo engine from the Z4, which has 382 horsepower and 369 pounds of torque in that robe. The upcoming 320d turbocharging four-pot is good for 190 horsepower and 295 pounds of torque and has a fuel economy of 67.3 mpg. Regardless of the engine and gearbox choices, the 3-series will weigh about 3,400 to 3,500 pounds. Other engine options will arrive on time.
In terms of systems that keep you on the road, the new 3-series saloon has Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), which comes with anti-blocking (ABS) and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), but also with a variety of stabilization functions and the Start-off assistant. The Performance Control feature is also standard.

The Ultra version has 190 horsepower and 236 pounds of torque with an advertised fuel economy of 31 mpg (both have a top speed of 130 mph, but the more powerful reaches 62 mph in 5.7 seconds, while the other takes 7.1 seconds to 62 mph Similar to the BMWs). The other is more powerful at 252 horsepower and 273-pound-foot torque and an average fuel economy of 27mpg. The gasoline-powered 330i is therefore significantly more economical than its Audi brothers with the same engine power. Obviously, the 2019 Audi A4 Avant also comes with DSC, ABS, anti-lock brakes and traction control. However, BMW has an automated parking option.

The BMW 3 Series is the natural development of race, not a revolution. It is larger than the older models – with a longer wheelbase than the E39 5 series – and looks bolder with the M-Sport package. The engines are more economical, even before we mention that BMW plans to introduce a 330e Electric version at some point in the future.
Granted, Audi is fighting an uphill battle against the new BMW, like any car in its third year of production. The styling is more understated and also the interior less modern, not to mention the smaller trunk. The MSRP of a 2019 Audi A4 Avant is between $36,000 and $51,400, while the new 3-series will start at $40,200, which is about as much as the F30 now costs.
