2027 Audi Q5 is a standout SUV on the market and boasts a reputation as one of the most sophisticated. Redesigned last year, the Q5 boasts an elegant appearance with a sleek body and a Bauhaus-style interior equipped with the most advanced technology Ingolstadt has to offer.
This model’s three-screen digital control center is an impressive setup, although less tech-savvy drivers may struggle with Audi’s complicated infotainment interface.
The Audi Q5 is available with just one 268-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive. This represents a slight increase in power over the previous generation, but it’s enough to make the Q5 quicker than the comparable BMW X3.
The 2027 Audi Q5 also offers adequate handling and responsiveness, providing a good driving experience. We think the 2027 Q5 is a solid choice if you prefer a compact luxury SUV with a more business-oriented attitude than a pleasure-oriented one.
2027 Audi Q5 Review
The 2027 Audi Q5 will be an engaging experience. Step inside and you’ll be instantly overwhelmed by screens, like you’re inside a Best Buy store. The 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster features new graphics, but it’s not as customizable as before.

The 2027 Audi Q5 Prestige model also features a head-up display, a 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger, and a massive 14.5-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Both are bright, easy to read, responsive, and offer good color contrast against deep blacks. You can even view the HUD with polarized sunglasses (though not as well as without). It’s great that these displays are easy on the eyes, but Audi still makes mistakes.
All AC controls have been moved to the center screen. There’s a dedicated area at the bottom of the screen for these controls and a convenient shelf to rest your hand on when changing the temperature and fan speed, but, as always, these controls should be physical.
You can change the air conditioning with voice commands in the new Q5, but it’s not for everyone. In fact, the interior is so technologically advanced that it might deter some people from considering the Q5 altogether. We like that the new car is more comfortable to drive and more enjoyable than before, but the reliance on screens and touch buttons will be a drawback for some.
We predicted the 2027 Audi Q5 would arrive with a redesign, bringing a new look, significantly more advanced technology (up to four interior screens), a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and more power. The results were somewhat mixed. The Q5 is now much more comfortable to drive thanks to some suspension adjustments and a new, much more responsive transmission, making the engine feel more powerful. We also liked the all-around view thanks to the Audi’s extensive use of glass, the roomy interior, and the extremely quiet interior with a very smooth ride.

All-New 2027 Audi Q5 Hybrid
Late last year, Audi launched the new Q5 crossover and its more stylish sibling, the Q5 Sportback. Now, the automaker is rounding out its model lineup with the announcement of two new plug-in hybrids.
While it hasn’t been confirmed for the US, it’s highly likely. It likely won’t be faster than the sportier SQ5, but it should offer longer range thanks to its significantly larger battery capacity.
The power delivered by the new 2027 Audi Q5 E-Hybrid plug-in will not be faster than the sporty SQ5 model, but it should offer a longer range thanks to a much larger battery capacity.
Optimized aerodynamics and aeroacoustics help make the new Audi quieter. Turbulence is reduced, and as a consequence, drag and noise are reduced.
Both features are important for gasoline-powered models, but they are even more important for this new PHEV, where the ability to cut through the air means less time on gasoline.
Speaking of gasoline, the Q5 e-hybrid and Q5 Sportback e-hybrid models use the familiar 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 248 horsepower in each Q5 PHEV. There are also two engine options. One increases power to 295 horsepower, the other to 362 horsepower.
The 362 horsepower is the same as the previous-generation Q5 PHEV. It’s now the same as the SQ5. In the previous generation, the PHEV produced more power than the SQ5, making it a clever way to achieve a faster and more efficient vehicle.

Audi doesn’t specify how much power each electric motor can produce individually, but it’s safe to say the smaller motor doesn’t produce as much power. Therefore, electric acceleration will be slow.
With all the power available, the smaller version can reach 0-62 mph in 6.2 seconds. The more powerful version can reach the same speed in 5.1 seconds. Both use an electric dual-clutch transmission.

Audi has also enhanced the PHEV’s regenerative braking capabilities. The PHEV can now recover up to 88 kW of power, which Audi says is enough to cover 90 percent of all braking. The brake pedal and hydraulic system are separated, and Audi says this helps make the experience and transition between regenerative and primary braking more transparent.
As before, the battery pack does reduce trunk space. The Q5 e-hybrid has 15.5 cubic feet of trunk space, down about three cubic feet from the regular gasoline car. The Sportback has 15.3 cubic feet of trunk space, a similar decrease.
If those figures sound similar for very different rooflines, that’s because they are. The European version’s trunk space measurement extends only to the bottom of the rear window, not the roof.
The Q5 e-hybrid also gets some additional standard equipment. There’s a cooled wireless phone charging tray, and both models get Audi’s S sport suspension.
A 60-watt USB-C port on the front is included, and the one on the back can deliver up to 100 watts of power. More than enough for even a powerful laptop.

2027 Audi Q5 Interior
The new 2027 Audi Q5 is expected to be relatively roomy, use decent materials, and have a simple layout. The flat-bottom steering wheel adds a sporty touch, and the interior is decorated with an attractive combination of leather, fabric, and metal, in keeping with Audi’s other SUV offerings. Despite the quality leather upholstery, the Q5’s front seats could use more cushioning.
The 2027 Q5 doesn’t have the most spacious second row in the segment, but it’s roomy enough for a six-footer to fit in without much difficulty. There are also several second-row amenities, including two USB Type-C ports and optional heated seats.
The latest 2027 Q5 has a smaller cargo area than its predecessor, but still offers ample rear space for a vehicle in its segment. There’s 27.6 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats in the upright position; with the seats folded, that figure jumps to 56.9 cubic feet.
Tech
The 2027 Audi Q5 features an 11.9-inch digital instrument panel integrated with a larger 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display. If that’s not enough, an optional 10.9-inch passenger display can be ordered. This screen features a privacy feature so the driver won’t be distracted while the front passenger browses the internet.
The infotainment system’s software is based on Google’s Android Automotive, but we still expect support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to be standard. A head-up display is also an option, as is a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo.
- Infotainment system: 14.5-inch touchscreen, 10.9-inch passenger display (optional)
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto
- Audio System: 10-speaker audio system (standard), 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system (optional)
2027 Audi Q5 Engine
With a 268-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the 2027 Audi Q5 is available with all-wheel drive, and a seven-speed automatic transmission is standard. In our test of the new Q5, we found it to deliver a smooth and powerful performance.

The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission delivers quick, almost imperceptible shifts and smooth operation at low city speeds, a problem with some other dual-clutch transmissions.
Revisions to the Q5’s steering system make it feel more responsive than before, but the lack of feedback leaves the driver less connected to the road during sharp turns.
The suspension of the new 2027 Audi Q5 is well-tuned and delivers a smooth and stable ride on a variety of road surfaces. An air suspension is also available, which attempts to combine a smooth ride with sharper response on smoother surfaces, with mostly satisfactory results.
2027 Audi Q5 MPG
Reaching 60 mph in 5.8 seconds on our test track means the new Q5 is slightly slower than the previous-generation model, which did it in 5.5 seconds. The EPA hasn’t released fuel economy figures for the 2026 Q5, but last year’s model earned an average rating of 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. The new model is mechanically identical, so its fuel economy estimates should be the same or similar.
- EPA City Fuel Consumption Rating: 22 mpg
- EPA Highway Rating: 30 mpg
Competitor
If you’re considering the Audi Q5, you have plenty of good competitors to consider. The Mercedes GLC was recently updated and is arguably the most luxurious option in its segment. The BMW X3 is also new for 2025 and features an all-new technology package, just like the Q5.
And don’t overlook the Genesis GV70; while this automaker doesn’t have the same strong brand image as others in its segment, the GV70 is a great vehicle and has a far superior warranty than its competitors.
Safety
Basic driver assistance features like automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning are standard, but if you want more advanced features, you’ll have to pay for additional option packages.
Standard Safety Features: automatic emergency braking with forward collision warning, lane departure warning
Optional Safety Features: adaptive cruise control with traffic sign recognition
2027 Audi Q5 Price
In terms of pricing, we predict the new 2027 Audi Q5 will start around $54,000 and go up to $64,000 depending on trim and options. We think the mid-range Premium Plus trim is a good choice.
This trim includes attractive features such as a Bang & Olufsen stereo system, adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, and a heated steering wheel.
| Models | Prices |
| Premium | $53,000 (est) |
| Premium Plus | $57,000 (est) |
| Prestige | $61,000 (est) |
Meanwhile, for the Hybrid model
Pricing in Germany starts at 63,400 euros (72,500 US dollars) for the SUV or 65,900 euros (75,300 US dollars) for the Sportback, with higher horsepower trims adding 8,400 euros (9,600 US dollars).
Production for Europe begins later this year. While not yet confirmed for the US, the PHEV will likely arrive here to replace the previous generation. The Audi Q5 e-hybrid is also the first of 10 PHEVs Audi is expected to launch this year. We’ll share more information as soon as it becomes available.
- Estimated Price: Starting around $54,000
