Not every driver wants a performance car that’s aggressively styled, noisy, or embellished with too many badges. If you are one of them, turn your attention to the Audi S6.
This sedan is something of a sleeper. Apart from the four-pointed exhaust system, there’s not much to show for its sporty edge. But the sculpted and mature bodywork looks good, letting the technical LED lighting catch your eye. The cabin is a haven of modern luxury, richly appointed and packed with technology.
The S6 may look weak, but its performance is not. Given how fast the standard A6 is, the S6’s added power and chassis upgrades should make it live up to the letters in its name. As in other Audi S cars, the Quattro AWD system provides quiet and agile handling.

We think the S6 is a reasonable choice, providing a reasonable balance between sport and luxury. Likewise, the RS6 Avant makes sense, but in a different way. As its wagon body increases practicality, its twin-turbo V-8 makes it look like a supercar.
Channeling 591 hp and 590 lb-ft via an eight-speed automatic and Quattro AWD, the RS6 cruises to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. High-tech chassis upgrades provide brilliant handling.
Meanwhile, it offers 30.0 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second-row seats, and more when folded. Specs, technology, and luxury like these make the RS6 Avant one of the best do-it-all daily drivers.
Building on the current-generation A6, the more performance-oriented S6 is Audi’s darkest way of offering really high performance. The S6 is basically the A6 with a few visual tweaks and a bit of sportiness to back up the monstrous engine placed under the hood.
Unlike the RS model, the S6 shares its looks with the A6 in a big way, while lacking the sporty styling that accentuates the road view. The 2022 S6 lets its agility and engine record catch the eye instead.

The cabin is probably the most worked on in space as Audi leapfrogged the S6 from 2021 to 2022. The interior is a great place to be with the amount of technology and leather on offer.
While it’s not as visually appealing as the Benz cabin, the luxury inside is immediately felt as you enter, with diamond-patterned leather upholstery, leather-covered dashboard & trim, and a touch screen as big as a dash. The cockpit-inspired design is once again seen in the latest S6 and is a worthwhile purchase for the cost when you see what the interior has to offer.
Audi’s build quality leaves no room for complaint, and plenty of passenger room is available throughout the cabin. The resemblance to the A6 enhances the sedan’s practicality, which was completely forgotten on previous RS models. Interior space is comparable to that of a highway A6, and cargo space is similar in that there are no additions or changes that affect the available storage space.
The Audi S6 has a low-slung structure that supports its sporty nature. The entire segment offers such seating in this regard and is evident in the limited headroom all cars offer, with the 38.8-inch BMW M550i topping the segment.
The S6 has a competitive amount of interior space as its interior dimensions are not inferior to the segment leaders by more than half an inch, and it leads the segment in terms of legroom in the rear seats.
As on the A6, the interior of the S6 serves to highlight Audi’s technology-driven luxury ethos. The design is sleek and modern, featuring smooth materials, soft leather, and genuine wood trim. Four-zone automatic climate control is standard, as are power-adjustable heated steering wheels, adjustable ambient lighting, diamond-stitched leather seats, and 12-way power-adjustable heated front seats.
The top-spec Prestige model adds the Extended Leather package, which wraps the dashboard, armrests, and center console in supple leather. While we haven’t tested the S6’s cargo capacity yet, we expect it to hold the same amount of stuff as the A6—namely, six carry-on luggage in the trunk and a total of 20 boxes with the rear seats folded.

The craving for a sleeper car is too hopeful to be quenched by a car sliding off the assembly line like that. The Audi S6 may look like the ultimate sleeper car but comes across as a shortcut to owning one and nothing more.

It’s also the shortest of the four, and it affects getting in quite a bit, though getting out of the car is really easy when you’re that close to the ground. The pride of the Audi S6 does not lie in luxury. Under the hood is a twin-turbo V6 engine of 2.9 liters min, while its torque of 434 Nm is available after the 1900 rpm threshold, thanks to the two turbochargers that rotate and discharge in sync with each other.
Mated to an 8-speed automatic and the renowned Quattro AWD system, the Audi S6 is blazing fast, completing a 0 to 60 sprint in 4.4 seconds. This time it can be achieved through a mild hybrid system that supports an additional electric supercharger as well. It’s a competitive figure, matching Mercedes-Benz acceleration and beating the rear-wheel-drive Maserati Ghibli S. The BMW M550i is superbly designed to perform the same sprint in 3.6 seconds.
The Audi S6 has a very powerful engine, better than the Benz and Maserati engines in terms of numbers. However, it was eclipsed by the much larger engine used in the BMW M550i. Audi’s smaller 2.9L engine helps it complete the standing quarter-mile in 12.5 seconds, just four-tenths of a second is slower than the BMW, and faster than the quieter Mercedes-Benz AMG E 53 and the loud yet flashy Maserati.
The Ghibli S. Top speed is set by the limiter at 155 miles per hour, while the Italian sedan has nothing to pull it back, allowing it to hit a top speed of 178 miles per hour.
The S6’s engine is a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V-6, assisted by a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Its power reaches 444 hp and 443 Nm of torque. Mated to a standard eight-speed, four-wheel-drive automatic transmission, the S6 gets Audi’s estimated 060 mph time of 4.4 seconds. The fuel economy on the S6 2022 is expected to be similar to the 2021 model, which is rated at 18/28 mpg city/highway.
While the last-generation S6 was powered by a 4.0-liter, 450-hp V8, the 2020 model has a more complex powertrain. Overall, the system produces 444 2022 Audi S6 Horsepower. On winding roads, the S6 is a delightful partner. It disguises its size well and feels more agile than we expected, especially with the optional rear-wheel steering system.

Sport sedans don’t match up to their fuel consumption and economy, opting to be less efficient than their road-suited counterparts for a more engaging driving experience. However, since these sedans are also track-ready, they have some semblance of efficiency so they can last longer on an underfilled fuel tank as well.
The Audi S6 manages 18 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway. The combined figure is 22 miles per gallon as the powertrain tends to be more powerful than you’d expect from the German manufacturer.
The Audi S6 is definitely not the most fuel-efficient in its class, although it is surprisingly close to it. It loses to the Benz and its laid-back nature to the AMG, offering quiet, unobstructed acceleration to maintain a level of comfort in the cabin.
The larger engines in the BMW are very economy friendly, with a combined figure of 20 miles per gallon. The larger fuel tanks in Maserati and Mercedes-Benz allow for long-distance touring.
As expected, the S6’s fuel economy has improved over the previous model. The new car earns EPA estimates of 18 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined—an increase of 2 mpg, 4 mpg, and 4 mpg, respectively, over the old V-8-powered S6.

Audi S6 2020 Price whether you opt for the S6 in the Premium Plus trim for around $75,000 or the Prestige trim for around $82,000, 2022 Audi S6 Price you’re no doubt getting a luxury car with the right performance. But we thought it was worth going all out and opting for the S6 Prestige.
Doing so enhances luxury smarts with features like extended leather upholstery, heated rear seats, and ambient interior lighting. Technology is also improving; the heads-up display is useful, but the adaptive cruise control makes driving on the highway a lot easier.
Performance doesn’t change between the Premium Plus and Prestige trims, so the S6 is fast too. Those times when you just want to sit back and sail, Prestige models, prove their worth.
Upgrading to a Prestige model costs less but unlocks many of the S6’s best features, including semi-autonomous driving mode, heads-up display, matrix-design LED headlights, automatic high-lights, soft-close doors, power-operated trunk lid, dashboard leather-wrapped and center console, in-cab fragrance diffuser, and heated rear seats.
